The Health and Care sector is a major employer and offers a huge selection of excellent, well paid and rewarding careers and yet children only know of doctors and nurses. Early learning around careers in Health and Care supports future widening participation and builds strong foundations of knowledge and ambition.
Developed by Caroline Boot for South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, the programme has reached over 10,000 pupils in 120 schools across the North of England. The programme has evaluated well, meeting objectives around careers understanding and dispelling stereotypes. Teachers said:
"It has been a very worthwhile project and something I think all schools should be looking at in the future”
“I never thought ‘I want to be a blood scientist’ would be heard in my reception class”
